I am proud and excited to see SIMENA launched and sailing“, said Kerim Kalafatoğlu, president of ARES Yachts, “My family has been building boats for generations, so I strongly wanted to express this heritage in a superyacht project. This vessel is both a calling card of the highest quality and proof that Turkey has emerged as a superpower in superyachts, equipped with the ability to design, engineer, and build top-level boats“.

A ketch with a traditional and elegant appearance with a modern hull shape, optimized for maximum performance. SIMENA features a clipper bow with double headsails reminiscent of a cutter rig, the main mast stands 59 meters above the waterline, while the mizzen mast reaches 48 meters. “The exterior of SIMENA is inspired by the elegance of classic sailing ships, interpreted on a much larger scale and with modern proportions“, said the founder of Taka Yacht Design, Tanju Kalaycioglu. “The design revolves around a sleek saddle, a clipper bow with a bowsprit, and a traditional ketch rig, elements that give the yacht a strong and recognizable silhouette.

Simena is capable of deploying an impressive sail area. The mainsail covers 470 square meters, the mizzen is 249 sqm, and there are 596 sqm of genoa plus a staysail of 356 sqm – all sails are signed by Doyle. SIMENA reaches a speed of 16 knots with 20 knots of wind at an angle of 100 degrees to the wind, seven captive winches (submerged drum) hidden under the deck allow the captain to adjust the sails at the push of a button, while Antal winches make it quick and easy to hoist, lower the sails or reduce sail area in case of excessive wind (reefing).

Four generous guest cabins, including two VIPs and one flexible twin, occupy the accommodation deck. A fifth flexible cabin at the aft central staircase can be used for occasional guest use or for crew.

Brass details play a fundamental role: from the beams supporting the superstructure to the legs of the coffee table. Design Unlimited has created a complete range of fully customized furniture to fit the interior concept, often working with high-quality Turkish materials, beautiful Turkish stone to decorate the large guest bathrooms. Shades of gray, lavender, and a stunning brass color in the delicate veining of the marble elevate the space and contrast beautifully with the black and brass finish of the Gessi fixtures.
